Restyle Closet is a luxury fashion resale platform focused on connecting buyers and sellers through a trusted community, extending the life cycle of items while ensuring a quality, secure and seamless experience.

Project implemented: June 2017

Project goal

Restyle Closet hopes to make its social imprint by recycling designer items in a painless and secure way, giving each piece a second lease of life and reducing wastage of these quality items, and reducing the environmental impact of mass production.

Our vision is a world where any woman can dress the way they want, with accessible and affordable alternatives to quality designer fashion, while making consumption choices that are environmentally-friendly.

delivering on

why is this project important?

Fashion today is wasteful and pollutive – the equivalent of one garbage truck of textiles is land-filled or incinerated every second. We’re buying twice as much fashion and wearing it half as long. In Australia alone, 6,000 kg of textile waste is being dumped in landfills every 10 minutes.

It is time we draw attention to secondhand fashion as a viable, safe alternative and bring awareness to the benefits of recycling and the impacts on our environment.

Key steps to make it happen

1A Safe Place

Offering a secure platform designed for safe participation in sustainable fashion resale

2Inspire Change

Bringing awareness to the benefits of recycling within the community, effectively lowering carbon and water waste footprint

impact to date

66%
of sellers had been encouraged to get involved as we made it painless for them

We have been building awareness of the benefits of second hand fashion consumption, and providing a seamless and secure platform that connects the resale market. We’ve seen customers who were wary of the authenticity and experience of shopping second hand have an amazing experience and awaken to the ease and benefits of recycling.

It is truly inspiring to observe the impact of Restyle Closet in the consumer shift from mass consumption to a recycling mindset through the sharing economy for the better of our community and the environment.

Restyle Closet aims to create a seamless, guided experience in resale luxury fashion that will delight customers and lower the barriers to the secondhand market for fashion. The platform offers protection through a two-sided marketplace, and allows community members to engage, interact and share their love for their favourite high fashion, while encouraging a fun and secure way to take part in sustainable fashion consumption.

With every transaction screened and all payments monitored and managed through a safe vault, we intend to stop counterfeit in their tracks and build trust and accountability in the market, therefore removing the barriers to designer fashion resale.
