Reground creates a community around waste resources to educate on how to make our future more sustainable.
Project implemented: September 2016
To divert resourceful waste from landfill and put it back into the community helping the environment.
Organics in landfill contribute to the release of harmful greenhouse gases. Mitigating the amount of organics sent to landfill is imperative in reducing Australia’s environmental impact.
Recognising coffee grounds, soft plastics and chaff as resourceful waste being sent to landfill.
Educating the community to utilise waste sustainably mitigating our environmental impact.
Reground has connected over 100 community gardens and home gardeners with cafes coffee waste. We educate the community on waste resources and positive behaviour change.
Reground is a community-based organisation that exists to help businesses help the environment and not let any coffee, chaff or soft plastic waste end in landfill. We create a community around waste resources to educate everyone on how to make our future more sustainable and we support necessary changes to our current waste disposal structure making it more resourceful for our pocket, people and planet.
We currently move coffee grounds and chaff from participating cafes and roasteries to community gardens and home gardeners. We are also collecting soft plastics that we take to local plastics recyclers.
