100% of feedback from workshop indicated a desire to do more intersectoral action into local issues.
In line with SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, Healthy Cities Illawarra collaborates with UOW to bring together delegates from business, local government, education, not for profit, youth and community sectors to share current initiatives and explore opportunities for future action in support of the SDGs. Two successful intersectoral workshops have been delivered as part of an overall engagement strategy. The first event was a breakfast forum with an impressive turnout of 120 attendees. Exploring the opportunities to realise these global goals in the Illawarra Shoalhaven region provided the context for the second workshop, a series of facilitated round table discussions provided diverse groups of local participants the opportunity to share, learn from each other and explore SDGs relevant to their organisation. Connecting participants from various sectors has provided a rich opportunity to learn, engage with the community, and align specific organisation’s initiatives to the SDGs. A shared local narrative and the creation of an inventory of local activities aligned to the SDGs provides the platform for pursuit of the SDGs in Illawarra Shoalhaven region.
