Analysis of the effectiveness of AnglicareSA’s Financial Counselling services.

Improving evaluation will deliver substantiated services to increase financial literacy and inclusion for all Australians.
AnglicareSA identified the need to understand the impact our financial counselling service was having on the community.
Questions were developed to produce relevant data to assess customer demographic, presenting need, service impact & outcomes.
To determine customer presenting needs, socioeconomic characteristics, referring agencies and impact of services provided
Evaluate data to identify; target cohorts for service provision, service gaps, future need and advocacy platforms.

AnglicareSA undertook an impact data collection to improve our evidence base of the financial counselling services provided. This data allowed AnglicareSA to understand the impact of financial counselling, identify opportunities for advocacy and evidence the financial insecurity issues in the community.
During the data collection period (July to September 2017), impact data was collected for all 450 presenting customers to Community Financial Services. This was analysed to identify – presenting needs, socioeconomic characteristics including income type, referring agency partners and outcomes achieved with customers.
The data enabled AnglicareSA to develop a point in time bench mark to assess; future service provision, identify service gaps, improve the quality of services and identify advocacy areas. As a part of AnglicareSA’s Financial Inclusion Action Plan, this data will be used to support systemic change through our advocacy platforms for financial inclusion for all.
